James CHARLES 1851 Census COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 01 September 09 14:30 UTC (UK) »

Hi, I'm looking for 3 generations of James CHARLES, all bricklayers, in Waddingham in 1851.

1.  James Charles b Bishop Norton c1795 (he was a widower in 1861 so I don't have a spouse name as yet)

2.  James Charles b Waddingham c 1818, wife Ann b Blyton c1818

3. James Charles b Waddingham c1841, wife Jane Pinning b Nettleham 1842, dau of Catherine Pinning I think.

Thanks, Jane

[corrected Waddington to Waddingham]

Marriage 13 Feb 1817 at Bishop Norton
James CHARLES to Mary DENT

Please note: birthplaces are Waddingham not Waddington - they are different places.

Perhaps this marriage is relevant, I can't see anything suitable in Lincs.

CHARLES   James (son of James)
TURNER   Ann   (dau of James)
Holy Trinity   Hull, 28 Jan 1839, (See IGI)

Marriages Mar 1839
CHARLES    James      Hull    22   239
TURNER    Ann         Hull    22   239

Excellent!  thanks heaps Trish.  Kiss

I hadn't checked FreeReg yet so good to find some more info there.

Cheers, Jane

PS:  Is Catherine Pinning anywhere to be seen in 1851? I had a bit of a look for her in 1841 without success and the only Pinnings in Waddingham in later years seem to be John and Mary who were living next door to James and Ann (I think it was them?)

Hello again.  Could I trouble someone to look for John & Mary Pinning  in 1851 as well?

I had come across them in Town Street in 1861, next door to or in the same house as James & Jane Charles but didn't know where or if they fitted in to the picture.  It now looks like they are probably Catherine's parents based on a baptism record on FreeReg. Smiley

Thanks, Jane

Thanks Geoff.  Smiley

I'm sure it was reassuring to live next door to Cumfort Girdham.  I wonder if they lived up to their name?
