Lost and Frustrated - complete
« on: Wednesday 02 September 09 03:51 UTC (UK) »

Hello ladies and gents

I am hoping someone will be able to help me.

I’m looking for any information on Elizabeth Pettit (b. 1820. Impington, Cambridgeshire. Daughter of John Pettit), married Francis Treson (b. 1821. Son of Francis Treson) they were married in Alwalton, Huntingdonshire on the 22 Jan 1844.

I am unable to find any information after this date on them. I’m hoping someone might be able to enlighten me with some census records or something. HELP!

Very frustrate.

I'm having problems locating them in the 1841 and 1851 census ...  Undecided

Do you know the names, birth year and birth place of any of their children?

It's because the name was IRESON not Treson. In 1851 they were living in Alwalton indexed on Ancestry as Preson with a correction to Ireson

Francis Ireson head marr 28 labourer b Hunts (Cop?)ingford
Elizabeth Ireson wife 29 b Alwalton
William Ireson son 6 scolar b Alwalton
Mary Ireson dau 4 b Alwalton
Ann Elizabeth Ireson dau 1 b Alwalton

Their marriage is on Freebmd as Ireson

How sure are you that she was from Impington? Her birthplace is Alwalton in all censuses 1851-91

I'm pretty sure that the Elizabeth Petit, daughter of John and Mary, baptised in 1820 at Impington, Cambs isn't the Elizabeth Pettit who married Francis Ireson at Alwalton, Hunts, 34 miles away. You appear to have the marriage certificate - does it state Elizabeth of the parish of Impington? If not how have you connected Elizabeth from Impington with the Alwalton Elizabeth, particularly as you hadn't found her in any census, other than the name's the same and her father was John?

The IGI (extracted) has a baptism at Alwalton of Elizabeth Pettit, daughter of John and Rebecca, on 17 Feb 1822, which looks much more likely than Impington. Francis and Elizabeth also named a daughter Rebecca - per the IGI where there are five daughters baptised at Alwalton (it's one of the odd batches where only female baptisms have been extracted)

I think you're mixing and matching two separate Elizabeths. If you're researching the Impington family then you need to be looking for a different marriage or a burial/death for Elizabeth baptised 1820
