"Forever Searching, Forever Learning"
|
Hethmar
I am going to be in the East Sussex Records Office on Wednesday / Thursday and Friday this week doing some research
Would you like to list exactly what you want clarifying, etc so that I have a clear mandate of what I am looking for/ researching.
Thanks

Bless you Chris. I felt quite depressed by this other persons records. But I am sure that mine must be right as I have two census for Reuben - he couldnt have died at 1 year old!
What I would be very grateful for is if you could find the parentage of Stephen Boniface apparently born 1827/28 in Chiddingly and his sister Isabella born a year later in Pevensey.
They are shown as Reuben's niece and nephew in both the 1841 and 1851 census.
Many thanks

Hi there Hethmar
Result from the East Sussex Record Office.
Bapt at Chiddingly June 10th 1827, Boniface Stephen Henry, son of George and Frances, Labourer
Sorry, no trace of Isabella at either Chiddingly or Pevensey
But I did spot the following in Chiddingly:
Marriage April 12th 1826, George Boniface of this parish & Frances Dunk of this Parish by Banns.
Baptism May 17th 1829, John Boniface, son of George and Frances, Labourer
Hope the above helps in your research.
Chris in 1066Land
PS - I am at the record Office again tomorrow and Friday - anything else you want, please post before 9.15am, will check messages before I leave for the ESRO

Hi Chris What a star you are. Shame Isabella didnt show, wonder why that is. Shown as Pevensey on census.
I have heard of this George and Frances before, brother of Reuben but why do you think the kids may have got dumped with their Grandparents?
I know you must be up to your eyes in requests and your own work, but if you do get time, I would be interested in finding the parents of George Cheale born c1730 - married to Anne Rowley on 9.3.1752 in West Dean. I have one child for them, Thomas Cheal bap 1.11.1761 in Seaford.
So, only if you get time, please:
Parents of George Cheale born c1730 West Dean? Children of George Cheale and Anne Rowley from 1752 - West Dean/Seaford.
Please dont worry if you are up to your eyes.
Very many thanks Chris.

Hi there Hethmar
I know you must be up to your eyes in requests and your own work, but if you do get time, I would be interested in finding the parents of George Cheale born c1730 - married to Anne Rowley on 9.3.1752 in West Dean. I have one child for them, Thomas Cheal bap 1.11.1761 in Seaford.
The Bishops Transcripts for Seaford only went up to 1725, so could not check for a George born 1730 - No registers are available.
Looked through the Bishops Transcripts from 1632 - 1754 found the following (all listed in same book) Marriage - 1751 - 9th March, Married George Cheale & Ann Relly of ye parish Bapt 1751 - June 21 William, son of George & Ann Cheale 1752 - 9th Mar, Married George Cheale & Ann Rawlly of this parish (entry appears twice) 1754 - Jan 27th, Baptized Mary, daughter of George & Ann Cheale 1754 - April 3rd buried Mary Cheale (does not say if child or adult - but probably the same as above entry
West Dean - Cheale Burials 1813 - 1871
24.8.1815, Thomas Cheale aged 54 18.01.1820, Barbara aged 4 years 01.11.1828, Rebecca aged 11 days 01.09.1832, Eliz aged 7 years 11.03.1833, Mary aged 44 years 29.01.1836, Sarah, aged 2 years 08.02.1836, William, aged 8 years 21.02.1836, Charles, aged 10 years 21.05.1838, Mary, aged 16 years 27.03.1843, George, aged 50 years 29.10.1845, David, aged 25 years 14.02.1847, Sarah, aged 52 years 16.03.1860, Thomas, aged 71 years 13.10.1866, Samuel, aged 2 years 15.01.1868, Jane, aged 76 years 14.08.1871, Albert James, aged 6 months 24.08.1871, Edward aged 77 years
Hope you can place some of them in your tree

Dear Chris
Once again, one of the few men in the world to be relied upon!
Thanks for all your hard work. Shame cant find the parents of George. I wonder if they would appear anywhere else.
I guess can get some idea of relations from the burials - there are two elderly couples on your list, possibly the offspring of Thomas. Makes heartbreaking reading all those kids though.
Many thanks. Hope you dont think I am taking advantage of your good nature!
