knox -smailholm

looking for info on Robert Knox(b1819) and Helen Bruce(b1818) on freecen they lived in smailholm in 1841, and in 1851 they had 3 children john ,Helen and Francis.

have info which i cannot prove that Helen Bruce was actually Helen Harvey and that they had a lot more children ?

can anybody help with info

Hi Norrie

I think you may have two couples with the names Robert Knox and wife Helen. One which you have as Bruce and have in 1851, and also shows in Smailholm in 1861. The other couple with Helen as Harvey shows in 1861 (their children show on IGI which lets you verify) and they show as Robert b. 1830 and Helen b. 1826, living with their children in Ancrum.

When you are on the IGI search screen, simply put in full father and mother's names (leave out mother's surname if searching in England) on the r/h side. Then British Isles and Scotland for example and then search. Most of the time the results will be for the couple you are researching, if you get however too many different couples, you can add time and county search filters.
