Is this him?  Charles Millen, Father William Mother Leannagh born circa 1874.

There are a number of items of interest on Charles and Ada on Paperspast, just search for exact phrase "Charles Millen" and then look for headings "Bluffed her with revolver" and "High explosives on marriage front".

Sorry no death or burial details found.

Hi unblestduchess

Thanks for your PM.      I've tried all sorts of variants of the name "MILLEN" and I just can't see a death on the NZ index for him.

Last known address "Wanganui - 1940's" :

*  Does this come from an electoral roll or a post office directory ... or something of the kind ?

I am looking for his burial place.
Wises NZPO Directory 1940-1955 have a - Millen Chas, bdghse, 21 Wilson St., Wanganui.
NZ Electoral Rolls 1949-1951 have a - Millen Charles, Fern Flats, Taupo Quay, Retired.
His parents were Charles (blacksmith) and Leannagh (nee Russell) born 1873/1874.
Married Ada White (nee gibbons) 1915.

Hi again

As his name can't be found on the NZ Death index, I think that next thing you should try, is to see if there might be a cemetery record for him in the Wanganui area.

With the Wises Directory listings, often these "carried on"  even after a person was deceased (sometimes for years) ... so they can't be totally relied upon as "evidence" that a person listed therein, was still alive.
However, the Electoral Roll listing (1949-51) is more reliable.

I have checked with the Sexton at Wanganui District Council, and he can find no record of a charles millen, miller, mellon or mallon buried in Wanganui.
Will just have to keep on trying.

Hi

Gosh ... how frustrating.   Sad

Of course by 1950, he would have been aged mid-seventies, so I guess there's little chance that he took off to Australia (or somewhere) ... and died there ?

I know he was no longer with his wife, but do you know whether he had other (wider) family, that he might have gone to live with in his later years ?
