Peter JOHNSON
« on: Thursday 03 September 09 10:07 UTC (UK) »

Peter Johnson.  Born circa 1900-1915.  He was living in a bungalow on the outskirts of Grays, Essex in 1938/9, but not necessarily from Essex.  I believe that he was an engineer, possibly a mining engineer.  I believe that he had one English parent and one Irish parent.  Would have been seen in and around Romford 1938/9.  Some say he went to America in the 1940s.

Hi,

FreeBMD lists 87 "Peter Johnsons" births registered 1900-1915 in England/Wales.   Roll Eyes

Do you have more information about him?

Hi NannyJan,

No more information I'm afraid, but very keen to find out more about him as he has a significant place in my family history.

Many thanks for your reply.

Hello MJSJ

Your Peter Johnson (on info provided) is not listed as leaving for the USA in the 1940's (findmypast.com)

If he lived in a bungalow on the outskirts of Grays the likelyhood is that he lived to the east of Grays in the Blackshots area although their are/was bungalows all over the area but the majority would be to the east of Grays

Many thanks to Bryant and Nanny Jan for your info and suggestions. It's good to hear about the location of Grays bungalows.  I don't expect that Peter would be alive now.  If he is he would be possibly 100 years old, but my hope would be to find any descendants or relatives or people who knew him.  I am convinced that there is someone out there who will have known him or known of him.  I do have the possibility of finding him on the Grays electoral roll 1937/8 which they have at the library at Grays Thurrock.  I've put out a request for anyone who'd be willing to look through for me.  It's possible that I might be able to go there myself in October, otherwise I'll continue chatting...!n  Thank you once again.
