Roy,

Without more info such as parent's marriage location to maybe help with your request, it will be difficult to answer besides which the request is a bit ambiguous.

Do you mean that the birth year c. 1876 was found in the 1891 census or that you need info from the census?   If found in the census, what do you need?   The name Gloucester is often used by many to mean the county do you mean the city of Gloucester?

Regards

Chas

Morning Chas
All I can say is that it must have been a pretty long night.  I can hardly understand it myself, so I can only apologise.

It should have read as:
Residing at 11 Herbert Street, Brithdir, Gelligaer on the  1901Census for Glamorgan; Frederick Lewis, boarder, 25, s, plate layer on railway line, born Gloucester, England.  Please can someone help locate him on the 1891C.

Sadly I don't know the name of parents and as you pointed out Gloucester is likely to be the County.  I would like to locate him on the 1891C, hopefully he will be at home with his parents.  Sorry for the confusion and if you feel it too big a search for the lack of information then please say and I will remove the topic.

I will say that this is not personal research, I am doing this for a friend who is virtually at his wits end.

Many thanks and again.........Sorry

Regards, Roy

Roy,

As you might expect with a not unusual name, there are quite a few FL's with "Son" as relationship in GLS (Chapman Code best used for counties) within a birth timescale of 1876 +/- 5 on the 1891 census so there's no way of deducing the correct one.  One FL given in Ancestry's 1891 has the relationship to head as, "Wolfer" so if your friend's FL was a Wolfer . . . . .  Huh  Cheesy

Looking at the map showing Gelligaer via http://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.htm there's quite a few railway lines nearby; your friend might find the map interesting.

Have you looked at the 1881 census  via the LDS site, he should be there?

As you are doing the search for a friend, the info. relating to how the GLA FL was selected/found or indeed his m/d-cert would help in eliminating some in GLS.

You will find the Chapman County Code in Parloc.

Regards

Chas

Roy,

In freebmd there's to be found the death registration of an FL aged 27 in the Reg. Dist of Chepstow (not a million miles from Galligaer) in 1902.

Could be the one unless your friend knows otherwise for sure.

Hi Chas
Many thanks for explaining things to me, still got lots to learn and thank you for being so patient.  I will speak with my friend to see if he has any other info.  Many thanks for your time.

Kind Regards, Roy
