Can some kind person out there tell me  Huh(uneducated IT Grannie) how to view the set of files that I have been sent?

So these things have been emailed?
What are the letters after the "." in the filename?

Eg .jpg .bmp

Hi Pauline,

Thank you for the reply Smiley  They remind of negatives of photographs, (sent in the post) .  I wonder if I can take them to my local library and view them there Huh

Postcard-sized things...

You'll need a fiche viewer. I used to go along to the library with mine 'till I bought a viewer from Ebay (which I then gave away).
Some people try scanning them, but that _is_ getting technical..

Unless you have a specialist super-duper extremely high resolution scanner, that's unlikely to work I'm afraid (although I have hopes standard ones will be good enough within another couple of years).

As already mentioned, most libraries will have a fiche viewer, or you can probably pick up a second hand one for about £50.

There is a gadget on the market, which I've forgotten the name of just now, that looks a bit like a fancy mouse and mouse mat. You put the fiche inside the "mat", and can view it on your computer screen by moving the mouse over it. When I looked into it a year or so back, these were around the £500 mark though  Shocked

It looks like the library will be the easiest and safest bet Wink

Many thanks for all the replies.
