Peter JOHNSON b1908 York
« on: Friday 04 September 09 12:09 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone have any information about Peter Johnson, b 1908 York.  I'm looking for a Peter Johnson born around this time who grew up to become an engineer, probably a mining engineer.

Many thanks for reading this post.

Hi,

Have noticed your other post on Peter Johnson

You said he was b 1895 -1910 and had one English parent and one Irish

How have you decided he is Peter b 1908 York?Huh

it looks like this peter's parents were both b Yorks?Huh?

There is a marriage sept qtr 1831 York to Theresa barrett 8d 169

If this is your peter, the purchase of marriage cert would give his occpation and father's name

You seem to be looking for likely births on freebmd and then posting the same message on the relevant counties board.

Why are you trying to find this person?

As per my reply on the Lancashire board

Quote
As he was born before 1911 - have you checked the 1911 census for entries.  You could then see whether the parents match your profile

Thank you once again CarolW for your suggestion re the cenus.  I am looking for this person because he played a significant part in the history of my family and I would therefore like to know more about him.  I have very little information about him and that is why I am trying all kinds of enquiries.  I have been doing so for some time now but have only just started to enquire on this site.

Hi

One of the major problems I can see here is that with so little info - you would not be able to identify him from any available census  or birth entry as you do not know either of his parents names and it is only a possibility that one was Irish and the other English

The span given for his birthyears on previous posts is anything from 1895-1910 and with a surname like Johnson - it's virtually impossible

You say he played a significant part in the history of your family.  Is there no marriage cert that would at least confirm his age and fathers name?

If not - perhaps you may find some info on the electoral roll you mention in your Essex post which may help to trace him further

Good luck
