Hi Penny,
I haven't been able to find Elizabeth Hester in the Abingdon PRs from the OFHS but there are a number
of "Hesters" baptised in Abingdon St.Nicholas,( ie, Robert 1785, Benjamin 1787, Hannah 1789, Catherine
1791, Martha 1793 all children of Robert Hester & Hannah).
In case you don't have the full details here are; Elizabeth Hester otp, to Daniel Stockwell otp, by Licence
wits; William (X) Wiltshire, Mary Payne married at Abingdon St.Nicholas.
There are some Hester in Dorchester parish but again no sign of Elizabeth.

Elizabeth HESTER was baptised at Abingdon St Helens in 1779. In my post above with some of the STOCKWELL children.

Hi Ian and Penny,
I stand corrected - my apologies. I was looking at the wrong index - marriages instead of baptisms.
I think I have found the parents marriage if you would like it;
Abingdon St.Helens - 9-11-1778 -Robert Hester (Dorchester) to Hannah Bartholomew, W - no more info.
as an addition in Abingdon St.Nicholas - 5-12-1801-Hannah Hester, wid, otp married Nicholas Carter, wd, St.Helens, by
Licence. Wits Sarah Musiner ?, William Watts.

Hi Penny,
Not sure if you have seen these entries but on the IGI there is a "Danl" Stockwell who was
baptised 28-7-1765 in Dursley, Gloucester son of "Danl" Stockwell & Ann.
There is also a marriage of Daniel Stockwell to Ann Crosse on 1-2-1746 Dursley, Gloucester.
The Daniel your after could have moved around - he would have been about 34 years of age when
he married Elizabeth Hester.

James Daniel Stockwell

Hi Alan, Thanks for the information you have given me. I am thinking along the same lines as you that Daniel could have moved around. One interesting fact I am working on is the burial details of a Daniel Stockwell who was buried in Abingdon St Helen on 25 June 1818 aged 17 years. I have a feeling that this Daniel was probably the first child of Daniel Stockwell and Elizabeth Hester although his baptism does not appear to be registered in the Abingdon records. However, the IGI gives a baptism for a Daniel Stockwell on 25 December 1799, North Cerney, Gloucester, son of Daniel Stockwell and Elizabeth. I am hoping that perhaps the original entries might give me a little more detail, such as occupation, etc. Are the parish records usually kept at County Council offices? Also in the Abingdon St Helen burials, another Daniel Stockwell is mentioned who died on 10 April 1825, aged 57, carpenter. I am pretty sure this is the Daniel I am trying to trace being born around 1768. Another fact that makes this feasible is that the last child, Philip, who is my direct ancestor, was born in 1825 posthumous. I really appreciate your efforts on my behalf. Penny

Hi Penny,
The parish registers are usually kept in the various county archivists which are part of the county councils.
I have'nt looked but if there is a Family History Society for Gloucester, they may have records
available on CD for purchase, much like other the Oxford FHS
