I am very interested in the brothers Richard, William, James and John Thompson, cotton mill owners and local politicians in the mid-late 19th C. Blackburn padiham and Whalley. Supposedly their father, Richard, was a building contractor in Blackburn . Any information is extremely welcome.

Hello and thanks for this reply. This is an excellent bit of info. I now have another direction. I notice that Eccles is one of your interests. I have a William Eccles born 1822 Lower Darwen to Joseph Eccles and Betty Livesey. They were mill owners in Darwen going way back. Many thanks

Hello there and thanks for the reply and information. I think I have actually heard of this book by Jeremy Hunt on CD . I am going to send off for it as it sounds very intereting even if I find nothing directly relating. Thanks again.
