Hi Monica
You are a lot better at searching than I am. I couldn't find anything about the marriage on Freebmd.

As far as Catherine's whereabouts in 1871 are concerned, I have had Janet's household in 1871 on my records for some time, but missed seeing Catherine listed.

Anyway many thanks for sorting me out. One day I may be as good as you.

Keith

p.s. I am making progress in other areas.

Hi 707nylon
Like you I am new to rootschat (first reply) so hope this gets to you. I am not new to genealogy and I have your Janet Sharp on my tree plus five previous generations of her Sharps, which I can feed you.

Father John Sharp was a remarkable man in that besides being an overseer in a coalmine he was married twice and sired no less than 18 children to the 2 wives. I have a book published on the Sharp family and devoted a page to John Sharp and his large family.

I can confirm info given to you by other respondents re Catherine Sharp being twin of Janet, the 2 wives Elizabeth Westland and Margaret Hunter, the move to Forfar. The death date of John Sharp 21/08/1867 was new to me, so correspondance passes info both ways - thanks.

Reply to this message with questions if you wish and I can supply further info
Regards

Keith,

Just to suggest you have a wee peep at the home pages of the FreeCEN Clackmannanshire project:

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sctclkfc/

Under Clackmannanshire Notes, you will find quite a bit of information I have compiled about the parishes and population of Clacks in the 19th Century (together with a map), and also a list of relevant books about the County.

David.

Keith,

I have looked at the original image for that 1871 Census record for 122 Spencer Street, Everton, Liverpool, and it is definitely Cathe (for Catherine) Sharp, age 40, born Clackmannanshire, and sister to Janet Roberts, Head of household, also aged 40 and also born Clackmannanshire.

David.

Hi David
Thanks for your two posts. I shall look at the FreeCen site in more detail when I have time.

When I first started I managed to find Janet Sharp on the 1871 census, but didn't make the connection with Cath Sharts , as Catherine Sharp had been transcribed, in the same household. This was brought to my notice by Monicalesi in an earlier post.

Thanks for the info.

Keith
