Could someone please look-up an Evening Chronicle orbituary for my great-grandfather please? I live in Rome and have difficulty getting records on-line.
William Ross b.26.2.1859 KilmuirEaster, Ross & Cromarty
d.9.10.1915 Scotswood Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.

had a look for the death notice,checked 9th to 14th October,but couldn't find it,it should have been in by then.

Many thanks Steve for looking. I was trying to find out his burial place, as I know he is not in Elswick cemetery, which woud have been the nearest from where he lived.

I had a look in the BMD on Ancestry for William on the O/N/D deaths for 1915. I couldn't see a William Ross who died in Newcastle. Do you have his death certificate? Could his body have been taken for burial to his birthplace, and registered there, but death details given as his place of death?
I could have missed it of course, and it was there all along. Or he was registered in the next quarter?

Looks like he was registered in the quarter before - J/A/S, in Newcastle

Hi Rosemary,
Thanks for your interest. I have since found out that I had been given the wrong date of death. William died 10.9.1915 and not 9.10.1915 as I was given to believe. There wa a death notice which said "interment later". I have checked Kilmuir Easter and he is not there. Preston Cemetery in North Shields has also been checked as his wife came from North Shields, but no luck there either .
