What happened to Jesse Cooke after the 1891 census?
« on: Monday 07 September 09 12:01 UTC (UK) »

I did this search about a year ago, but I thought I'd try again, what with new members and that.

Jesse Cooke was born in Southacre, Norfolk in 1870.

Census'
1871 - With his parents Edward and Mary in Southacre. Transcribed as Jessia. (6 mo.)
1881 - with his parents in Bagthorpe. (10 yrs)
1891 - He was a 'Farm Servant' for the Hodgkinson family in Findern, Derbyshire. (18 yrs)

I cannot find hide nor hair of him in the 1901 census, but I'm sure he lived into his 40s or 50s cos' I've got this photo:

Where did he go? Did he marry? Did he join the army? Can anybody shed any light on this situation? Help!

Cheers           Dan

if he served in the Boer war he could well be missing from the 1901 census but will have a search around for him

Hi both,

Have you tried the 1911 census yet, Molloboy?

There seems to be a Jesse Cook born ca. 1871 South Acre, living in Derby district.

Thanks all. I wasn't even sure the 1911 census was available to view yet. Is it available to 'Ancestry' subscribers?

hi,

I saw your note about jesse cooke and the attached photo. Though I cant throw any light on Jesse cooke specifically, I believe my Great grandfather is Dyson Cooke brother to Jesse.

My mother has very little information on this side of the family as her mother (Sybil) died at a young age ( daughter to Dyson and Emma), Anything you can tell us on this side of the family would be helpful,

Thanks,

Mary

Tipperary,

Just saw you come and go in the chatroom.

you need to make three postings before you can make personal messages.

perhaps if you come back we may be able to help.
