Hi all
There is a John Nightingale, born in about 1796 in Hertfordshire and still living there in 1851. Could someone expand upon the entry and let me know more please?
He should be a widower.

Hi lizdb
I put John Nightingale, born 1772 in Hertfordshire into the basic 1851 search box, and top of the list was John Nightingale born 1776 and living in Hertfordshire.
I can't tell from the info where he was born, so perhaps it wasn't Hertfordshire.

1772 is when I think he was born.

There are some others of simlar age around. Do you expect yours to be in Hertfordshire?
There is for example a 77 yr old bn Lancashire living in Gloucestershire, and others within a few years of age.

I think John 75 widower is the one I was enquiring about. I can now see who he is, but he's not the one I was hoping he'd be, if you get me!
Thanks also for the reference to the others, but mine was (as definitely as I can tell) born in Hertfordshire.

Thanks very much - I think yes, that he may very possibly be my man. The spelling of the surname did vary in those days.
