Nightingale/Dunk/and Stile families in Hawkhurst--parish register help.

I know that my 3 times ggrandfather John Nightingale married Jane Stiles in Hawkhurst on 19th Oct 1797--bothof the parish. I am trying to find Janes parents  and any help would be appreciated. I think she may have been born around 1780.
Also my 4 times ggrandfather John Nightingale married Elizabeth Dunk by licence on 9thmay 1770. Again I am trying to find the parentage of Elizabeth whose birth could have been around 1733.

It doesn't look like the STILES' were a Hawkhurst family. I've got Hawkhurst Baptisms 1550-1853 & in all that time there was only one baptism for a Stiles - Ann, 5th Nov 1775, parents John & Jane.
 Given the date & the mother's name, these could be your Jane's parents. I've looked for STYLES, but nothing at all for that spelling.

The DUNKs, on the other hand, are numerous!
This could be your Elizabeth:
1736 3rd Oct
Elizabeth  dau of Thomas & Margaret DUNK.
This couple had 8 children baptised in Hawkhurst.
That's the only Elizabeth Dunk baptised around the date you mention, 1733, which, if should was married in 1770, would make her 37.
Late for a first marriage, do you know if she was married before?

There's another Elizabeth in 1753, which would make her 17 at marriage.

Thank you for being so quick with a reply.
On the banns of marriage for john nd Elizabeth(Dunk) in 1770 there are two names--in the preference of Ann Dunk andJohn Marchant.This marriage  only produced 4 children  between 1771 and 1777.If I go for the 1733 birth she would be 43  at the time of the fourth child ---it also looks from my records that her last 3 children died in infancy--the only survivor being John Nightingale who was to marry Jane Stiles.
Jane Stiles and John N had 11 children  and one was called Margaret (could have been named after aggrandmother?)Their wedding states that it was in preference of John Marchant and Ann Stiles.
THanks for your help on this --I will investigate further.

Try looking in Salehurst, East Sussex.
I've found an Ann STILES marrying a man from Salehurst, Sx, (Charles COUCHMAN) 1806 Hawkhurst. The witnessess were J Nightingale & another J Nightingale.
Also there's another DUNK couple, Robert & Ann, having their children baptised in Hawkhurst 1830s, & the note says of Salehurst.

Salehurst is just over the border from Hawkhurst.
Might be worth a post on the Sussex board?

I've families from that area who seem to have been quite happy to nip back & forth across the Kent/Sussex border. It doesn't make my life easy Grin

I will put the message on the Sussex board as you suggest. with the last bit of info about Ann Stiles witnesses being Nightingales you hav probably found a link. Will see what happens. Thanks again
