Elizabeth Earl, Birmingham c.1861. - completed.
« on: Tuesday 08 September 09 17:35 UTC (UK) »

Looking for the Birth of Elizabeth Earl in Birmingham about 1851.
Elizabeth married William Henry Schofield 1891 in Shoreditch, London.
Have no idea when Eliabeth and/or family moved to the London area.
Any help will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

do you have the marr cert
she was 40 years old if she was born in 1851
do you know that that is her maiden name and not a surname through a previous marriage?

the only elizabeth schofield married to a william that i can see was born 1860 in birmingham
they are living in the st.lukes area of london which is not that far away from shoreditch
there is a child born 1883 with them the next eldest child was born in 1893
so quiet possible the eldest child was from a first marriage of william
the next child born 1893 could have been this couples first child together after marriage in 1891
this would tie in with the birth of elizabeth earl in birmingham in 1860
do you know elizabeths fathers name?

wozzle,
Thank you for your interest and comments.  I don't have a lot on this and I am trying to work it from both the London and the Birmingham interests.  I do not have the marriage certificate for William and Elizabeth, only the details 3rd Qtr 1891 District of Shoreditch, Vol. 1c, Page 195 which of course does not tell me if Elizabeth had been married previously.  Your are probably correct in that assumption.  I did find a family on the 1881 Census also in the London area, 39 Graham St. St. Luke, London, Noah Earl 39 born Birmingham, Lucy wife 38 also born Birmingham,Daughters Elizabeth 21 and Emma 17 born Birmingham, Daughter Eliza 6 and Son John 1 born London.  I think this may be the correct family but not positive by any means. I may have to send for that Marriage Cert. but being a Scot I am obviously trying to do this on the cheap! Would appreciate your further comments.

Please excuse my error on the original post.  I should have said Elizabeth Earl was born about 1861 not 1851.  Sorry about that to all concerned.  I should have ehecked my message.  This obviously changes things.

the noah you found in 1881 here is his marr index
name; noah earl
y.o.r. 1860
qtr; oct/nov/dec
dist; birmingham
vol; 6d
page; 67
on the same page; lucy walton.

so they were married in the same qtr as their childs birth was regd.(if they are the parents of elizabeth born 1860?)
you definitely need the marr cert of elizabeth and william schofield to be sure these are the parents

1. hedwig06,
I think number 2 Elizabeth born in Birmingham is the correct one.

2. Wozzle,
I will send for that Marriage Certificate today, which as you say will clear up the mystery.  Thanks for all the info.

Thank you both for your help, it is very much appreciated. Searching from 3 thousand miles away is much easier with help from people at RootsChat.
