Can I request further info. on my husband's ancestor, please. Ancestor was John McLeod b. 2 May 1862 Kiltarlity, Inverness-shire, died 7 Mar. 1915 Cleveland, Ohio. Migrated 1887, married around 1888/9 to Mary McDonald, b. Scotland (parents John McDonald & Annie Grant), she died 21 Aug, 1919 Cleveland, Ohio. Now, I have been helped enormously on above but now wish to find out more about his children (and grand-children? if possible). 1.Annie McLeod, 2. Daisy Barbara McLeod(married name Mrs. Daisy BETZ), 3. John McLeod b. 1892/3 Cleveland, in Nat. Army 1918 - 1919, served in France. Death? 4.Then Hugh McLeod b. 15 July 1906 Cl. d. 1930, in Nat. Army 1918-9. 5. Florence M. McLeod (married name Mrs. Florence PERRY), then 6. William Alexander McLeod, b. 24 Aug.1900 Cleveland, d. June 1985 Tucson, Arizona, married? There is a further Hugh, a son of one of these children, born around 1920 ? who was in Canadian Army in 2nd World War, and travelled to Britain on service, around 1943 or so. Any help at all would be great.

The Social Security Death Index has John McLeod born 29 Dec. 1892 and died Sep. 1968. His last residence was Dunedin, Pinellas Co., Florida. His Social Security # was issued in Ohio before 1951. That birth date seems to match his WWI draft registration card. The Florida Death Index has a John McLeod who died Sep. 1968 in Pinellas Co.
You can see the Social Security Death Index for free at www.rootsweb.com or www.familysearch.org. Keep in mind that the last residence is not necessarily the place of death.

If you look on the Cleveland Necrology File, there's a death notice for William G. Betz, husband of Barbara McLeod, from 13 Aug. 1946 and other relatives are listed.

To continue on this family, can anyone please help further, with a HUGH MCLEOD, who would have been born around early 1920's, & who served in the Canadian Army in 2nd World War, and I think was GRANDSON of original JOHN MCLEOD b. 1861 Scotland (about whom I have asked, and been greatly helped). I haven't been able to trace this Hugh anywhere, but he must have been a son of one of the sons of above JOHN - i.e. EITHER: of his SON John McLeod (b. 29 Dec. 1892/3 Cleveland, Ohio (died Dunedin, Pinellas County, Florida Sept. 1968) or or of his SON: William Alexander McLeod,( b. 24 August, 1900, Cleveland, Ohio, died June 1985 Tucson, Arizona) I don't know anything further about Hugh, other than he was in Britain around 1942 or so (aged about 23 yrs.?)with Canadian Army, and visited my husband's family in Inverness whilst there. My husband believes that he lived in Vancouver at that time.
