Paul, I am looking for someone to help with family research in Waterford. I believe some of my family still lived in Ballingowan in 1917. My 2nd great grand uncle left a portion of his estate to Thomas and his brother and sister in 1917 and they sent his share to Ballingowan, Stradbally, Waterford, Ireland. I found Thomas Colbert and his family in the 1911 census in the Fox's Castle, Ballingowan area. Thomas' mother, Bridget nee Shea or O'Shea, was the daughter of John Shea and Johanna or Mary nee Kane Shea. I believe she married John Colbert and they had at least three children, Patrick, Mary and Thomas before they left for the US. I am hoping to find more information for John & Johanna Shea by connecting Thomas's records, and any other members of their family. John & Johanna had at least five children, John, Johanna, Phillip, Bridget and Thomas. Would you be interested in researching for me? I am willing to pay you for your time and expenses if you can let me know ahead of time what your fees will be. If you prefer to correspond thru my email address, feel free. Thank you in advance, Therese

Hi Peter! Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, had trouble with the website! Thanks for taking the time to look at the records for me. I am thinking the Thomas Colbert is probably a relative, and possibly John & Johanna Shea. I will try out the link and see what I can find.
Do you know if the parishes themselves are fairly helpful in looking for records, if I have approximate dates? I did find a link to the Waterford sites and may just contact someone there to do the research. That would probably be my best bet! Thanks again for your help! Good luck with your research! Therese

I was wondering if the records in Waterford include Templemichael baptisms. I have a Martha Barrett baptised there 1839 and was wondering if there are any more siblings. I have a contact in Cobh that look in the library for me if the journey worth while. Thanks for any help you may have. Ann

Hi MM, Enjoy the cruise and good hunting. The road from Cobh to Waterford is pretty good, have driven it a few times when visiting. Ann

I am looking for the Quinn family from Waterford City 1911 census they live house no 7 Powers Lane Urban no 3 parish within St Johns. Head James Quinn 46 general labourer wife Mary 42 dau Johannah 22 dom serv dau Mollie 19 " " dau Alice 17 son James 13 dau Kathleen 11 son Thomas 7
James Quinn married Mary Nolan 2nd Oct 1885 although their marriage cert say's he was age 21 of John St son of James and Mary Ryan Mary Nolan was age 20 of Spring Garden Alley dau of Patrick Nolan and Bridget Murphy the census above gives a wider age gap. The family moved to Liverpool except for Mollie (Mary) she stayed in Waterford do not know what happened to Johannah. I do not know when they moved to Liverpool but I dont think it was very much later than the 1911 census. I wonder if Powers Lane still exists? I would love to trace the family in Waterford.
