I have an Ellen Mcmullen who married a William John Hamilton in 1871/72 , but I would like to find the parents of Ellen McMullen , they most probably are from Co Down as Ellen was born there.

Ellen's marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation but since she was born before 1864, when civil registration of births started, you'll need to search for church records (which may or may not exist).

Mother's name is not listed on marriage certificates.
