I know - no MARGARET as per your and Hibee's posts. BUT!! I did find this - MARGARET HELEN WRIGHT b 13 Oct 1839, South Leith, Father- Archibald Wright, Mother - Agnes Carse
Archibald and Agnes married 10th Mar 1833 North Berwick East Lothian.
If you don't have the 1863 MC I would be more inclined to go for that as Marg/Helen would have been more likely to have known her parent's names.
Added - Sister of Marg Helen - Mary Watt Wright b 1872
Thanks guys you were both on track despite my efforts to throw Margaret Davidson in to confuse the issue.MD married a William Williamson from the Shetlands, which is how my Williamsons got going. It is the Wright/Williamson background I am interested in so those extra siblings are all more areas to research. Just checking the dates William 18 and Helen 18 married Dec31st 1863 and Elizabeth was born June 27th 1864.A tough way to start out. What is the IGI? looks like a great resource that I have been neglecting. Thanks Ian
The majority of Scottish records up to about 1874 were microfilmed and indexed. It is the index that is free to search (you can then view Images/order the relevant certificates from Scotland's People if you wish). There is an additional advantage in that it also contains non-conformist records, whereas SP only has Church of Scotland.
There are a few odd omissions in the database such as only female births/christenings being indexed for a batch even though the records are on the microfilm. Microfilms can be ordered to view at LDS Family History Centres.
