I'm trying to find if there is a death for a Gary A Allen in 1958 or 1959. He would have been a baby at death so I would expect him to be 0 or 1 year old. Can anyone help?

I have looked at the death index for 1958 and 1958, ffor Allen, Gary A.
There is only on death recorded for:-

Allen, Gary June Quarter 1958 age O   Surry N.  5g 364.

Okay, thank you very much for looking Spendlove. That's probably not the one I'm looking for then as that's quite far away. Gary Allen may not be the right one either. Do you know if babies who died shortly after birth were even recorded?

Hi,
If the birth is registered, which I assume is the one March Q 1958 Ilkeston maiden name of
mother Nelson, then the death will be registered.

Think you should consider a number of things:-
Was the baby ill, and treated in a hospital outside the birth registration area, which would
produce a death outside this registration area.
How sure are you about the year of death 1958/9?
Are you certain the baby died, or was it admitted to a care home?
Have you checked local newspaper, if available?

I'm not even certain that this Gary is who I'm looking for. My father-in-law once told my husband that his mother had a son who died either shortly after birth or at birth. My husband doesn't want to ask him more details about it because he thinks it's something he wants to keep quiet.
