Hi

To look up a marriage at the records office - we need to know which church it took place in as the records are in venue order

These are the churches that fall within the Sheffield Registration District and were licensed for marriages in 1880. Just to give you an idea of how many churches you would have to check. Which Ecclesiastical area do they come under on the census.

Central Area
St Peter & St Paul (Cathedral),
St Paul,
St James,
St Jude - Moorfields,
St Anne - Hoyle Street,
St Stephen,
St George

St Mary - Bramhall Lane,
St Simon - Eyre Street

Outer area

Holy Trinity - Wicker,
Christ Church - Pitsmoor,

St Thomas - Wincobank,
Christ Church - Attercliffe

not sure which area it could be, they seemed to move about so much, they were in Tickhill Doncaster in 1881, prior to that Ann was in Crowle, Lincolnshire, Thomas seems to be missing in 1881
thought it would be a long shot but didnt realise their were so many churches, will have to hope i can pin them down abit more

This could be Thomas in 1871.

St. Sepulchre Gate, Booths Yard, Doncaster

Thomas Dunn / head / unmarr / 42 / General Labourer     b. Bristol

Little H, this could be Thomas family 1861.  Marriage certificate would confirm it one way or another.

RG09 / 3512 / 68 /9
Cottage, Turnpike Road, Hooton Roberts, Rotherham

Edwin Thompson / head / 30 / Ag. Labourer           b. Cantley
Mary / wife / 29                                                       b. Wickerslay
George / son / 9 / Scholar                                                ''
Frank / son / 6  /        ''                                            b. Cantley
THOMAS / SON / 3      ''                                            b. Walton wood
William / son / 2                                                       b. Thurnscoe

This family, Edwin & Mary & son are on the 1871 Census as follows:
RG10 / 4713 / 48 / 14
The Rectory, Ravenfield, Rotherham.

Hope this is of some help to you..

Little H,  this is more than likely his birth certificate.  Hooton Roberts falls in the Rotherham Registration area.

Birth
Thomas Thompson
March 1858 / Rotherham
Vol No: 9c / Page No: 401
