I am trying to find information about this line of my family if anyone else is researching this beautiful part of the Borders, please contact me. Adam Nichol married Elzabeth Graham about 1830 and I am descended from their children.
We have some information on Adam Nichol and Elizabeth Graham, as their son Walter had a child Adam Nichol by Eliza Heatlie, sister of my great-great-grandmother Christina Scott Heatlie. He shows up aged 4 on the 1861 census:
Adam died on 4th July 1865 at Milsington Shankfoot, Roberton, and from his death certificate his parents were Walter Nichol, shepherd and his wife Jane (Jeanie) Elliot, who lived in Castleton parish, Roxburghshire.
Not sure if you have some of this information already, but hope it may be of some help.
