Looking for O'Hare/Grant children
« on: Friday 11 September 09 11:47 UTC (UK) »

Hi I wonder if anyone could suggest where I cold look to find any children born to Julia Grant who married Patrick O'Hare in 1915 St Mary's Drogheda.

Patrick's parents were John O'Hare/Mary Bell and Julia's were Owen Grant/Ann Carroll.

I have no idea if they had any children so with no first names I'm not quite sure where to start. Would anyone have any suggestions? Grateful for any help on this.

Maggie

The children, if born in Ireland, would be listed in index to civil registrations but with a common surname and not being sure of Christian names that resource won't really be much help to you at this stage.

Suspect the best way to get the details, if you can't track down another relative with the information, is to search for church records.

Since the children will have been born less than 100 years ago it would be best that anyone with information on the family send it by PM rather than posting on this thread.

Added- if you want to find details of previous generation, 1911 census might help-

have had a bit of a look at these possibilities, just can't tie anyone down on the census and family search not helping much at the moment but might have another look. Just wondered if anyone else had any suggestions on how to approach it.

thanks for your response.

You might be looking in the wrong place for some of them. IGI (www,familysearch.org) lists 2 children for an Owen Grant and Ann Carroll (but not in Co. Louth)-
1. Patrick Joseph Grant born 1 July 1878 Antrim district, Co.Antrim
2. Julia Grant born 5 Oct.1879 Belfast district

hi there, you've spotted the birth of Julia and her brother. I had a look at the baptismal record for Julia on Ulster Historical Found site and it had a cross ref on the bottom saying she married Patrick O'Hare in Drogheda in 1915. I checked with them and the marriage did take place there in St Mary's. They had no record of children.

Whether they stayed in that area afterwards or not I can't determine and if they had children not sure how I'd find them.

Had a look at IGI and just put in the surname. Some names come up but no indication of father/mother name.
thanks for taking time to look. Smiley

I found the entries using parents search in IGI. They have some, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 in IGI.
