After searching the results shown for the 1841 census for John Kerr, perhaps by this time he had already began to move onto other areas of the country?

From John's death certificate in 1907, it showed as I have already mentioned his Father was John Thompson Kerr, a farmer and Mother was Agnes, no maiden name noted. I could not see any census listing for a son John Kerr to  John Kerr and Agnes. John was listed as a carpenter by profession at the time of his death at age 75 years. It was also recorded that he was born in Ayre Scotland and had married at age 20 in Scotland.

After some initial inquiries I applied for a marriage in Scotland between a John Kerr and a Jane Patterson but am still unsure of this given the area of marriage, but keeping in mind the time frame and the shift to Australia in 1852. I suspect there was a child born Archibald Kerr in Scotland before they left Scotland for Australia. How can I establish this?

The marriage is listed as 26th April 1851 John Kerr and Jane Patterson both residing in this parish were proclaimed on the 27th of April, 5th and 12th of May 1851. The marriage was in Row parish now spelled Rhu in Dunbartonshire, and apparently quite a way from Ayr.
Look forward with any of your suggestion which may help me find the Kerr family I am seeking.

Hi

I don't see an Archibald with a father John in the OPRs for anywhere is Scotland 1851-52. This does not necessarily mean that there was not a child.  Did Archibald come to Australia with them. Maybe following them back from their (death certs, maybe) would give further info.
