Hello Lynn,
I don't know of any 1811 or 1821 census but I have Sparrows in Old Buckenham born between 1842 and 1867.They include a Martha Ellen Sparrow who married William Frederick Allington. Martha was daughter of David Sparrow and Emma Worledge. David was a fishmonger/dealer at Old B. and Martha was Postmistress at Old B. I can tell you more if you are interested in these later dates.

Hi Lynn

I assume you got your info from here.
http://www.origins.org.uk/genuki/NFK/places/b/buckenham_old/census1811.shtml
or here
http://www.origins.org.uk/genuki/NFK/norfolk/census/pre1841.shtml

"Old Buckenham is one of the few places in the county for which a census before 1841 containing names survives.

There are censuses for 1811 and 1821. These have been completely transcribed by Graham Loveday King in 1977 and copies are available in the Norfolk Family History Society's Library and other places."

I'm not sure where the other places are!

You could try contacting The Norfolk Family History Society
http://www.norfolkfhs.org.uk/

Hello Ron

As far as the Old Buckenham Sparrows go do you have any information on any William & Susannah (nee Hill) Sparrow or William & Mary (nee Locke) Sparrow. The Sparrow names you mentioned may be siblings.

Lynn

Hi Lynn

The 1811 census for Old Buckenham gives the name of the head of the family, the number of families in the house (which was 1 for all those below), the number of males and females in the house and the occupation of the head of the house.

Jno Elliss 4 Males 6 Females Farrier
Sam: Elliss 3 M 3 F Husbandman
Richd Lock 5 M 4 F Miller
Mary Elliss 2F (no occupation0
Willm Sparroe 1 M 1F Shoemaker
Edwd Lock 7 M 7 F Farmer

The 1821 gives similar information, but with a bit more detail on their ages.

(The info below is in the format M = 1u15, 1u20 F = 1u20, 1u70
Males equal 1 under 15, 1 under 20 Females equal 1 under 20, 1 under 70)

William Elliss (no occ) M = 1u15, 1u70 F = 1u20, 1u60
John Elliss Vetenary Surgeon M = 1u70 F = 2u20
Samuel Elliss Husbandman M = 1u5, 1u10, 1u70 F = 1u10, 2u30, 1u50
Richard Lock Miller M = 1u10, 1u15, 2u20, 1u30, 1u50 F = 1u10, 1u30, 1u50
Robert Lock Miller  M = 1u40 F = 1u5 1u20
William Sparrow Farmer M= 1u30, 1u60 F = 1u20

Hello Lynn,
No, sorry I do not know anything of any William Sparrows.  My earliest Sparrow is David born c1822 Attleborough, son of Samuel and Susan or possibly Sarah.

Hello Yokel

Thank you for the info. I have John Elliss on a marriage certificate with the occupation of vetenary surgeon so it's the right family also on the cert is William Sparrow as a Yeoman not really sure what that means.

Many thanks again for your time.
Lynn
