Family of William Morison, Thurso, after 1803
« on: Monday 14 September 09 16:40 UTC (UK) »

Hi all - I was looking for any information I could find on the family of William Morison (b. abt 1746) and Agnes/Margaret Ross (b abt 1746) who were in Thurso by about 1780 or so. Information taken from the marriage record of his daughter Catherine in 1803 indicates that he was a salmon fisher. At the time of his marriage in 1779, he was listed as a soldier in the Northern Fencibles.

Is there any mention of his other children: Janet chr 1796; Agnes chr. 1789; Barbara chr 1793 and Alexander Morison chr 1792. There may have been other children but I've no mention of them. Did the family remain in Thurso or emigrate to Nova Scotia?

Sincerely,

Inez Reed

There also seems to be a John Morison b 29/07/1786  Thurso, and William Morison  b 29/04/1796 Thurso.

Hi! Is this from the OPR? I'm delighted to see mention of two more children and ones that I could hopefully track more readily than the girls.

I was recently going through the LDS library catalogue for a search on Thurso. There is a mid-wife's book in their collections. That could be quite an interesting read for researchers.

Best wishes and thank you.

Were Janet and William twins or christened the same day?

Best wishes,
