have this David Davies on 1891 census also wife Sarah .David was 37yrs old. his wife was 37yrs old.it says he was born in cilehalia carmarthen where is this or is it spelt differently  thanks  haydon

Hi Haydon,
      D D's place of birth isn't easily recognisable; perhaps if you post the census reference details someone might be able to turn it into worthwhile information; the parish and street and house number would probably be useful too if you've got them.

thanks pinot. i have not got census references found them on ancestry using the daughter maria name 1891 maria was born in merthyr glam  1876 she was15yrs old.haydon

Hi Haydon,
    Haven't managed to find them on earlier censuses, but I'm pretty sure that the place of birth has been mistranscribed from the handwritten record; "Cilrhedin" I think is what the enumerator wrote, which you would find today as Cilrhedyn (long ago Kilrhedyn). It is a village near Newcastle Emlyn, Carms, but very near the border with Pembrokeshire.
      By the way, the census refs (as given in Ancestry) are RG 12, Piece 4440, Folio 132 and the street address was Morgan Street, Penydarren, Merthyr, which you might want to keep.

     Hope you're a little nearer what you need.

thanks pinot that has sorted out a lot.have the family in 1901/1891 also think in 1881.there are so many Davies wanted to check i was following right family.some of the names and age are a bit different thanks    haydon
