I recently made the seriously bad mistake of offering to look up my brother-in-laws family which, it turned out very surprisingly, to be very near to where I live.   Easy ........... not a chance - no one has ever heard of them.

I have a Matthew Hibling and his son John who in 1841 was living and working in Manea as a Shoemaker.   In 1851 his son John Hibling was the Innkeeper in Manea-cum-coveney.   I am not sure that the area, as such, exists today  \0[probably just Manea now and coming under the March area) and neither does a suitably elderly pub in Manea, although I know, in 1841 there was an Inkeeper in Manea at a pub called the Dog and Gun (I wonder if this is the pub I am looking for - as far as I can ascertain it is no longer there).   Coveney, to which I have never been, is, I understand, much closer to Ely.

I wonder if anyone knows how I can look up/research an old pub that no longer exists - given that I know the publicans name was Hibling in 1851 is there a "Publican" website that anyone knows of?
