HI TO ALL,
CAN SOME ONE HELP PLEASE.
I WAS LOOKING FOR JOSEPH ELLIOTT BORN SCOTLAND ABT 1849 AND FOUND HIM ON CENSUS BUT HIS PLACE OF BIRTH SAID, GLASGOW PARISH, NK RESIDENT.
CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHAT NK RESIDENT MEANS.

Are you asking for help in tracing his ancestry? If so - we need to know more about him
Was he married/widowed etc
Who else was living in the household in 1911 - please post full details of the 1911 entry

JOSEPH ELLIOTT AGE 62 BORN GLASGOW PARISH NK RESIDENT
EMILIN (GRANVILL, MAIDEN NAME) WIFE BORN WEST HAM ESSEX
JOHN AGE 28 SON BORN WEST HAM ESSEX
ROSE AGE 13 DAUGHTER BORN WEST HAM ESSEX
LILY AGE 11 DAUGHTER BORN WEST HAM ESSEX
ALL LIVING 28 WARTON ROAD, WEST HAM
JOSEPH WAS MY GREAT GRANDAD, HIS DAUGHTER ADA, MARRIED IN 1911 WAS MY NAN. THATS ALL I KNOW ABOUT JOSEPH AND KNOW I HAVE TO CHECK SCOTTISH RECORDS BUT DONT HAVE MUCH TO GO ON.

His age varies - sometimes they "come clean" about their age as they get older so 1849 may have been a truer version
1911 - b 1849
1901 b 1855
1891 b 1856
You need a copy of his marriage cert to establish his fathers name and occupation

A possible 1861 census - 46 Main St Glasgow and indexed as Eliot. All b Glasgow except father John
John Eliot 36 b Ireland labourer - exact birthplace would need to be viewed on the original image - transcribed as Cranlyinser

I have got Joseph and Emilys marriage certificate, it reads
Joseph Elliott, age full, bachelor, dealer, living Bethnal Green, father, William Elliott, dealer.
Emily Glanvill, age 20, spinster, living Bethnal Green, father, Arthur Glanvill, painter.
Marriage May 31st 1880
can any one help to find Josephs parents.
He was born Glasgow.
