Reading Parsh Baptism Entries

I have been looking through old records of baptisms and on a few entries the Reverend has written "privately" over the top of the entry.

Has any one else come across this and do you know what it means?

Yes, it means that one family's child [or adult] was baptised in a separate service, not as part of public worship.  This is now infrequent.
