If it helps, the William you have found, son of William, farmer and Mary (Elmslie) is still at home on the farm with parents for the 1901 census:
William Milne 70, farmer b. Nigg Mary Milne 50 b. Belhelvie, Aberdeenshire William Milne 27, farmer's son b. Nigg Elspeth Milne 21 Jessie Milne 11 Helen Milne 9 Lillie Clunas 29 Barbara Newlands 20 James Taylor 29 Charles Scott 22 William Laurence 26
Address: Farm Dwelling House Altenst On Altens Road, Nigg
Given you have found potentially, your William down in England (right place/occupation etc), I think you can eliminate the above William perhaps.

Hi all
Woweeee. It looks like the family from Cookney is mine !! My William was definately in the NE of England in 1901. Ev - in the first email I sent I mentioned that I was going to try to get the signatures onto the other board, but I forgot on the second one. Sorry if I wasted your time.
I am going to go back and check all my info again, even though I`m sure it`s right.
To all of you, and especially to Ev, a big, big big thank you. I wanted to find out as much info as I could, as it`s my Dad`s 70th Birthday soon and I hoped to get everything printed out and give it to him as a present.
Kindest regards Tracey
