Missing!! John Brown - Balerno - born c.1828

I've hit a brick wall trying to find info on John Brown.  According to the birth record of his son Alexander, John was born in Balerno c.1828, but I've not been able to locate him.  Unable to find a death record for John as well so cannot confirm the parents' names.  John married Isabella Waters in 1853 South Leith but cannot find them on any census records.  I've searched on IGI, Ancestry and ScotlandsPeople but no John Brown/Isabella that fit the info that I've found so far.  If anybody happens to come across my missing John Brown, please get in touch.  Many thanks, David.

Hi, David,
Left a message on your other posting regarding Browns.  I have Brown in my family tree and their is a David John Brown amongst them.  Cannot remember whether his father was John Brown or Hamilton Brown or my Grgrgrandparents.  Will check to see who his wife was and get back to you.
