Williams of Llanelli (St. Clear)

I am looking for info on the family of a John Williams who married Mary ?.  He would have died between 1871 and 1881.  Children include John T., William, Thomas, Henry, Margaret A, David James, Elizabeth S and George A.  I am trying to find info on my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Sophia who was born abt 1871 in St. Clear, Llanelli and married Thomas Owen Davies.  All I know is she died aft 1896 and before 1907.  I have no info on her parents or siblings at all.  This is like the mystery side of my family.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks Maryann

Hi Maryann

With all your other difficulties with this branch of the family, I'm only going to make things worse by saying that St Clears is about 10 miles west of Carmarthen, which is itself about 20 miles north west of Llanelli.

So Llanelli and St Clears aren't anywhere near each other.

You didn't make things worse.  So all is good.  The family lived in Carmarthen, St. Clear and in Llanelli according to the 1881 census and the birth places of the children.  Just can't seem to find much more on them.  But I will keep digging.  Thanks for answering.

Hiya I think you need to purchase Elizabeths birth cert from the Llanelli Registry Office as then youll have her Mother Marys Maiden name you can then go onto purchase John and Marys Marriage cert to get their Fathers names .As John Williams is so common a name youll then have more info to go on and he will  be easier to find in the earlier censuses then before he married.

Thanks, I do want to purchase Elizabeth Williams birth but I was hoping to narrow down her birth date first.  There are a lot of Elizabeth Williams out there.  When I first started looking I when for my great grandparents marriage and discovered that 37 Elizabeth Williams married Thomas Davies in the two areas I looked.  But thanks for answering, I knew it was a long shot.  I was just hoping for some family out there who also was looking.  Thanks again.
