COMPLETED THANKS - Marriage LU Please - PEGG/GOINER
« on: Tuesday 15 September 09 11:35 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

Can anyone offer some help please.

I have a marriage from the IGI which is an "Extracted entry"  for;
William Pegg to Eliz Goiner on 28-6-1768, Suffolk.

Unfortunately it doesn't  say which parish or town etc. Anyone have
indexes that may lead to the place of marriage, please ?

I have a son born to them in 1780 in Rattlesden and I have also been given more info on their dau bapt 1788 and a son in 1792.
The wife's surname varies from Goiner at  their marriage to Gormer or Goymer for the children.

Hi Alan,

William Pegg and Eliz. Goymer Pegg have a son John in Sudbury in 1791 (IGI batch C026529), also seems to be the same couple (William & Elizabeth GORMER Pegg) who have a daughter Ann in Rattlesden in 1788.
A bit out in time, but either of these might be a place to try,

Hello Janet,

Many thanks for your info.

The spelling of Elizabeth's surname certainly changes a lot
but I'm sure they are the same people I'm after.

As a matter of interest I already have a George Pegg son of William & Elizabeth being baptised in 1780 in Rattlesden from another R/C source, so the time line is moving
closer to their marriage in 1768 but where?.

The IGI say they only have records for Rattlesden upto 1758 if I am correct.

I think Suffolk County Council should have microfiche of the records, if you're able to access the records office, or buy them. Or maybe if you post a request, someone who has access may be able to do a look-up. Unfortunately, I'm a long way from Suffolk! Good luck.

Unfortunately the only Suffolk marriage index that I am aware of starts at 1813.  I don't believe that any earlier marriage index exists for Suffolk. The IGI entry has probably been extracted from The Bishop's Transcripts.

If anyone is going to the SRO they might be able to carry out a look up for you - Rattlesden St Nicholas PRs are available from 1558 -1900 at all three branches of the Suffolk Record Office.

I had a look in Phillimore's, but unfortunately it doesn't cover Rattlesden or Sudbury.

Pat,
Thank you.
I hope someone will see this request and if they are going to the Suffolk RO, might be able
to include my search also.

I have looked and can confirm that the Pegg/Goiner marriage did not take place at Rattlesden.

Hi Anne,

Thanks for taking the time to look at the Rattlesden records for me.

I'm thinking this extracted marriage may have taken place in Sudbury

so will do a fresh post.

many thanks
