Death registration for Herbert Edward HARROD

 Could someone from the list who likes a good challenge help me find a death registration for Herbert Edward Harrod .

Herbert born Gravesend Kent March 1912. His widow  Betty died 23 Dec, 1991 Swindon,Wiltshire.

I have not been able to find him on the death indexes. He was living in 1943, after that I could find no record of him.

I have been searching forever for this man. He was my grandmothers nephew.

Information from Betty's death record  indicate that he was a engineer(not sure what type).

Are you only looking at the partially transcribed index - freebmd?  If so - see coverage on this link

You need to search the full GRO index which is at your nearest main library or onlin by subscription at Ancestry or FMP

It involves downloading the images for every quarter of every year and checking for an entry - very time consuming without more info

Thank you for your help. I searched on the Ancestry link and found him. Finally!!!!

I found him Oct/Nov/Dec 1965. The only thing I cannot quite make out is the page number

Anyone who can read it I would like to hear from you..

That's an awful copy isn't it?  I think it's meant to be either 503 or 583 looking at other 5's and 3's on the same page

If I were you - I would not put any page number - just say on the application form that the page number is illegible.  The GRO should be able to find it from the quarter ending and the year.  The district and Volume number are ok so it shouldn't be a problem
