Searching for a birth date for Mary Webster, parents Thomas Webster and Isabella (Isobel) Tocher. 1851 census states her place of birth as Aberdeen north parish (?)and age as 19. However I can find no record anywhere, just hoping that a descendant may have records of sort.

The IGI has the births of 2 other children - Thomas 1826 and Margaret 1840 - in Newhills Aberdeen
Thomas & Isobel married at St Nicholas in Aberdeen in 1826

Thanks Carole but I have the parents marriage etc it's Mary Webster who seems to have been ignored in the birth stakes. The 1851 census puts her age at 19 and place of birth as Aberdeen north parish. I have investigated several possibilities, but none have turned up even a whisper of Mary. I tried neighboring parishes but hit a brick wall there too. I'm hoping that possibly someone is doing the Webster family tree and has perhaps documentation to solve the problem but I suppose that's hoping for too much!

Forgot to say,while I was searching for Mary's birth I came across the births of some more siblings;
Isabella born 9/3/1853, Jean born 19/07/1855, Alexander born 22/6/1851, James born 1/5/1843, all Newhills. I could n't find William's birth neither.

Hi,I found Thomas & Isabella & family in 1841.They were at Auchmull,Newhills. Strangely,Mary was not there.

If the data in the link flst posted was correct about Mary's marriage, her age should be on the certificate along with her parent's details.
I think the Alexander born 1851, Isabella born 1853 and Jean born 1855 had a different mother - Isobel Thom.

Edit: Is it possible they are the children of Thomas born 1826, ie Thomas Webster and Isabella Tocher's grandchildren?

I think some of the confusion might because there are two families on the same page and same address in Newhills on the 1851 ~
Thomas Webster, 24, Causwaystone Dresser

all b. Newhills
and
Thomas Webster, 48, Causwayman, b. Old Pitsligo
Isabella, 50, b. Old Pitsligo
Mary, 19, paper work (rag cutter) b. Aberdeen N

Margaret, 9, scholar, b. Newhills
(there may be other children on the next page)
The first family looks as if they might be the one that Kirsty was referrring to (Isabella Thom)

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. Yes the second family mentioned by Gadget is mine. "flst" mentioned a message from 2002. Thanks but I have all that from Sheri my cousin who sent the message. None of that alters or affects my branch. However back to Mary Webster, according to her death certificate she was born around 1832/3. There's no mention on the 1841 census in fact I could not find any of them on "Scotland's people". I have also been through all known records in Aberdeen NEFHS, and even they cannot find anything. But that will be a blank I have to live with. I have found other branches with little or no trouble but Mary is not available. I did think she may have alternated her name with Margaret but the dates do not match up. Another cousin has many of the same if not more details of the family but she also is missing Mary Webster's birth record. Thanks again for all your messages much appreciated.

Have you considered that the parish records may be incomplete & that the dates you were looking for are missing? I refer to William's birthdate as well as Mary's. Where did your cousin get Mary's date of birth from?

Hi "flst" since William and Mary were both apparently born in the same parish I have to come to that conclusion the records are incomplete. My cousin, I have no idea where she got her information from, but unfortunately she has my grt grandfather James Young married to a different Mary Webster, in fact she is a Margaret Webster born 1857, totally wrong I'm afraid. One reason why you should not rely on other people's research. As I said I've had no luck with Mary Webster at the NEFHS and I had one of the old stalwarts there digging into the available records to no avail. She was at a loss and it takes a bit for her to be perplexed. I have a very similar problem with another ancestor an Elizabeth Walker but that's another story for a different post.
Thanks for all your advice folks, all I can do is hope someone with more information turns up.
