Hi There,
I am looking for a Passenger List from the Tararua that arrived on 3 January 1877.
It has my S-I-L family on it
John Joseph/Joseph John Humphreys
Mary Jane Humphreys
and 12 of their 13 Children
Some one has taken a photo of it and put it on An****ry but I do not have a sub to view it
I think it arrived in Nelson as this is where the family stayed and where most of them are buried.
If anyone can help me find this list that would be great
I also have a link for it as well if needed and can PM it to you

Hi Newbe
Isn't this vessel "Tararua", the one which made numerous trans-Tasman voyages ? (It appears to have worked between Australian and various NZ ports).
The "Nelson Evening Mail" records its arrival (3 January 1877) and lists only "cabin" passengers ... with 24 persons in "steerage class".

The only passenger lists I can find on A***** for the Tararua arrive in Sydney, New South Wales on
10 January 1877 and 7 March 1877 both from Hokitika / Hoketika
This is on the New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922
There are no Humphreys listed.
Where did you find the reference to the photo?

Just another thought ...
If the "Tararua" voyage 1876/77 commenced in Melbourne, then you'll likely find a passenger list on the PROV website - "Outward from Victoria to NZ Ports" 
Worth a look ?

Hmmm ... not sure just what the archives reference relates to ... haven't checked it out. 
There is though a microfiche series of these PROV shipping lists "Victoria to NZ" (or whatever the official title is ?) and I'm sure ChCh library will have this on hand. The fiche records give only a few additional details of the passengers - e.g. "accommodation in cabin or steerage" / marital status / native place (birthplace). They're worth checking out if you are needing that sort of information as a means of confirming / or eliminating people.

Will check out early next week with the library here and see what I can find out.
I have noticed the first 3 sons in reply one are not on it so looks like I need to do some further research on this.
The rest of the family is on the list that was emailed to me.
Also on Papers past I saw a entry for Captain John Humphreys saying he leaves six sons and two daughters.
From "The Colonist" March 26 1910
He died 23 March 1910
