Griffiths Valuation

Can anyone tell me when the Griffiths Valuation was actually taken specifically in Glaway, as opposed to publication?

Thank you very much for your reply. I have a Broderick family that emigrated to Australia in October 1854. They were from Ballinakill, Galway. I thought I had found the townland on the Griffiths Valuation, but for that to be right, it has to have been taken before 1854.

Apparently the valuation was compiled starting from south to north. Galway and Roscommon are neighbouring counties.

Dear Coolcam
Thank you for that. My Brodericks immigrated to Australia in Oct. 1854, so 1855 sounds about right time for publication. They were from Ballinakill in Galway, and I think I have found them at Rosmore, as there are others there with associated names. E.G. people they married. I am taking it as my family. It just goes to show how many people read rootschat!!!!!!!

So possible was a year or two before 1855 max.

Dear Ger,
Yes, that would fit nicely, however the bottom line is that my original question has not been answered. It may be that that information is not available, so may never know for sure, but given that so many Irish emmigrated to other countries, to me it is an important and valid question. The same as the date of the night when the english censuses were taken.

Kind regards to all
