hi all

looking for any information on the above charles bruce.

i know charles got married to jane oliver muckle the 9th December 1916 (my gt grandmother) in berwick upon tweed, i am now in reciept of there marriage cert.
charles was 52 yrs old when he married jane who was 43 yrs old.

i know jane had 3 children at this time all named muckle
george muckle 1898
margaret muckle 1900
eliza muckle 1902

jane was pregnant with my grandmother at the time of her marriage (gran born 24/12/1916 2 weeks later)
my grandmother was called jane oliver bruce on her birth certificate.

i just recieved an obitury for charles bruce who died in june 1924. in the obitury it states that the chief mourners were

george bruce .. son
george muckle .. stepson
peter robertson .. son in law (married to Margaret muckle)
Mr wm armstrong..       (eliza married a william armstrong  un sure if this is the right one though.)

my query is about george bruce .. son
 although the marriage cert states charles was a batchelor, could he have been married previously and had other children? the address on the cert is  5 kiln hill, tweedmouth. i know from previous posts that jane lived in norham when the 1901 census was taken then appeared in berwick in the 1911 census.

the obituary is very moving and detailed, i also have a handwritten note from my gt grandmother thanking his employers for there "kind expression of sympathy"

any help would be greatly recieved, i was led to believe that george muckle was the same person as george bruce, but the obituary clearly states both son and step son were chief mourners

there is one with parents charles and margaret whicjh would fit perfectly i have him on the 1871 census if you want it.
will look for him on other censuses if you want.

the one you found in the 1871 census is the same one, i have him in the 1881 census living at 20 knowe head tweedmouth along with his parents charles and margaret
his sister jane is also living there along with 2 grandchildren,
given charles was only 16 in 1881 and jane was only 10 i take it he had more siblings,
if at all possible could you check the 1891 and 1901 census for me

according to his obituary he started work at the sawmill when he was 11 till 2 weeks before he died @ 60, 49yrs service to one company , unreal
