Hi,
Would it be possible for somebody some information in the Compton, Berkshire, Parish Records for me?
According to censuses Jane Rose (nee Alden) was born around 1815 in Compton, Berkshire. She later married John Rose.
I would like to know Jane Alden's baptism, the name of her parents, her parents marriage, whether she had any siblings etc. In short, anything anyone is willing to tell me

Taken from the Compton PRs from Berks FHS.
Could the name be ALDER.
There is a Jane Alder dau of Thomas & Elizabeth baptised 28-5-1815, Compton.
If it is then; Thomas Alder of Lockinge married Elizabeth Cossell (Cassell), otp, by Licence. 23-5-1780.
wits Richard Potenger, John Hewett.
There are a number of children born to Thos & Elizabeth between 1780 and 1818
which I can let you have details of if required.

It looks a bit more complicated than that, Alan - seems the first Elizabeth died in 1793, and there was another wife in between who died in 1812 ....
The marriage to the second Elizabeth (Jane's mother) doesn't seem to have been in Compton.

I have gone thru the Compton PRs and found the following;
Baptised 27-8-1780 Mary
" 21-10-1781 Sarah
" 20-2-1785 Harry
" 11-4-1790 Rebecca
" 12-1-1794 Betty
" 28-5-1815 Jane - already supplied to you
" 9-2-1818 Ann (privately) - Buried 13-2-1818 aged 2 weeks
All children of Thomas & Elizabeth Alder
In addition there is a baptism of:
19-3-1797 Rachel dau of Thomas & Hellen*
Baptised 11-1-1821 Martha dau of Rachel Alder - single woman
Elizabeth Alder w/o Thomas buried 22-2-1818 aged 42
John Alder buried 11-2-1832 aged 80
To add to the complication there is a marriage as follows;
* 25-1-1797 Thomas Alder - Wid to Ellen Brooks of Compton, botp,
wits; Jos Head, Maria Fisher

Seems Thomas married
1. Elizabeth

3. Elizabeth
I couldn't see the third marriage, or a burial for Thomas, in Compton.
