Hi I am looking for the parents of William DAVIS born abt 1799 in Frome so Baptism would be a start. I know it's a long shot as back then the parents names wern't always lsited. He has children Harriet Elizabeth, Samuel and Charles William which could give a hint to parents.

Hello Woowoo,
The nearest I can find for him is a baptism in Frome on 07/06/1804, St John the Baptist, Frome. William, son of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.

I have looked to see if there are any more baptisms for this couple and cannot find any in Frome for the period around 1800. There are baptisms of children by William and Elizabeth DAVIS in Nunney however. Nunney is about 3-4 miles from Frome at most.
All Saints, Nunney.
12/06/1791 James DAVIS, son of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
11/05/1794 Robert, son of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
25/03/1796 Samuel, son of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
22/03/1798 Lucy, daughter of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
12/05/1799 Henrietta, daughter of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
13/02/1801 William Henry, son of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
03/04/1803 Mary Frances, daughter of William and Elizabeth DAVIS.
Also, a marriage at Nunney on 22/05/1785 William DAVIS, to Elizabeth TURNER.
A search on Freereg will produce many more Davis relatives I suspect. There is another site for the Frome Local Group which covers Frome and Nunney which has many parish registers.

Many thanks for that info Jo. It does sound quite probable as my William Davis had a daughter Harriet Elizabeth, so he could have used his wife's name (Harriet) and his mother's (Elizabeth). Looking at the entires in Nunney he also had a son Samuel and they did like to carry names on.
