Hi
I was wondering if anyone had any information on a Emma Cowell born 1812 in Newcatle upon tyne. I know she went on to marry Thomas Coppock and had children in Lancashire and Newcastle but need information on when and where she married.

Hi Rosie
Her first child i believe was born in 1838 (wondering if they had twins as there seems to be 2 for that year in Newcastle, i have found a Thomas and Hannah) but before that they seem to be non exsistant. I have Thomas birth but no Emma. Its a strange one because on the 41 census Thomas's wife is Mary all other census records are that he was married to Emma.
Its driving me crackers!

on the IGI is a marriage of Thomas Coppock and Emma Cowell 31 July 1836 at Rainford Lancashire.

maybe Emma was Thomas' second wife,again on the IGI two marriages of a Thomas Coppock-one in 1828 to Mary Hewett in Cheshire and another in 1829 to Mary Simpson in Manchester.

Thanks Steve for your help. the problem i have is that i have copies of parish records for the birth of 2 of their children in 1840 but on the 1841 census Thomas the father is married to Mary with the children and then on the 51 61 and 71 census Thomas is married to Emma, i am wondering if it is a mistake on the 41 census and it should say Emma instead of Mary. Thanks for your help with the marriage, i am sure i looked on the IGI and couldnt find anything but you know what they ay you can look too hard.

Thank you Michael. I have since went on to find another son to Emma and Thomas in Lancashire and other members of the Coppock clan (dont know who they are yet though) so think you are right about Mary should have realised on the 41 census...

Even if Mary Cappock, 28 , on C1841 was sister of Thomas, 29, there are still some unanswered questions...
Where is Emma Coppock on C1841 ?(she was having Thomas's children before C1841)
Where is James Coppock , aged 3, born St Helens Lancashire ?
Where is Thomas Coppock, born 1840, on C1841
What becomes of Hannah Coppock, 3 yrs old, on C1841. Is she dtr of Mary Coppock, a married or single woman ?
Did South Shields-born glassmaker, Thomas Coppock, have connections in Lancashire i.e. St Helens-re glass making ?

James was staying with a Catharine Coppock in lancashire on the 41 census (i think i have the right James), he was born in Lancashire to emma and Thomas Coppeck variation in spelling but not unusual for Coppock, so what i put together today was they married in Lancashire, had their first son moved back to Newcastle and then had Hannah who disappears after the 41 census in 1838, Thomas in 1840, thomas then registered my gggggg grandfathers death in Newcastle (early 1841) then there was Mary and the 41 census (possibly relative) then emma and Thomas had more children all in newcastle..There is a connection with Glass i'm not sure what. So getting back to Catherine i think it was, hoped to find a husband Coppock on the 51 or 61 census today i found her and the document was half missing..felt like throwing myself out of the window :-)
