James Lyon 19thC Merchant (pictures)

A merchant of Bristol, trading with his ships to South Africa and the West Indies.
Born in Jamaica in 1790, but nothing concrete found of his parents in Jamaica. First reference in 1807 to issuing a dividend from Savage Gardens,Bristol.Noted ,Jamaica as place of birth on the 1851 census for Bristol. James died in 1858 at 2 Belle View,Redland,Clifton.
Married Frances Mary Kemp the daughter of Mathew Kemp a Banker and Merchant of Cornhill,London. Mrs Kemp is his partner Henry's wife.
Frances brothers went to South Africa as farmers and merchants the daughter of one ;another Frances Mary Kemp married John Paterson the founder of present day Cape Town and The Standard Bank of South Africa.
