James Abbott St Neots

I am looking for information on James Abbott bc 1884 in St Neots (according to 1911 census).  He married Ellen Elizabeth Fuller (b 18.10.1991 in Chatteris) 6.7.1907 in Chatteris naming his father as James.  However I cannot find him anywhere in previous census returns.  On his marriage certificate he is a waterman and the 1911 census he is a labourer.  I'm hoping someone may have some information for me

The only birth on freebmd is this one but 1891 census shows his father as Joseph

Arthur James Abbott June qtr 1882  St Neots Volume: 3b  Page: 321 

There is no birth reg between 1882-1886 for a James Abbott in Hunts or Cambridge

The 1911 index does not show any match for a James Abbott b 1884 St Neots.

There's no baptism of any Abbott in St Neots in this time period

He was 25 in 1911 according to the index, implying a birth of 1885/6, not 1884. But it looks as though there's a mistranscription as I can't find him with a birthplace of St Neots. He appears with a birthplace "Huntingdonshire" or "St" but not Neots

Elizabeth Ellen Fuller, illegitimate daughter of Louisa, born 18 Oct 1891, was baptised at Chatteris on 29 Jan 1899, along with three Jackson children, offspring of William and Louisa Maltman JACKSON, born between 1894 and 1899. (Something looks wrong here as William Maltman Jackson married Louisa Fuller in 1892)
