Hi. I am researching a McHugh family from the US who may have originated in Ardcarn. Thomas McHugh and Mary Regan/Reagan married in Ardcarne Parish on 27 January 1854. On 12 Jan 1855 their daughter Mary was christened.
My family is shown in the 1880 US census of Cincinnati, Ohio. Thomas and Mary, with daughter Mary and other children. I know from the death certificates of the children that the parents names were Thomas McHugh and Mary Regan/Reagan and that they were from Ireland. But I haven't been able to prove that it is the same couple as were married in Ardcarne.
Do you have any information about this couple? Thanks so much, Susan

Just thought I would update my part of this thread. Since my original post, I've been able to learn the following:
Thomas and Mary McHugh were both buried at St. Joseph's New Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. The cemetery records indicate that Thomas was the son of Bartholomew and Anne McHugh of Roscommon, Ireland and that Mary was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Regan of Ireland. Thomas Regan was one of the witnesses at the marriage and was a sponsor for the baptism, so I'm sure that the Thomas and Mary McHugh from Ardcarne parish are the right couple.
In 1860, they were living with three other McHughs: Patrick McHugh with wife Mary and son Bartholomew (age 1) Michael McHugh with wife Catherine and son John (age 5 months) Mary McHugh, a single woman
Patrick McHugh married Mary Feen in Hamilton Co, Ohio in 1857. Michael McHugh married Catherine Sheridan in Hamilton Co, Ohio in 1859. I haven't found the immegration records for any of them.

Welcome to Rootschat. This is an old thread and Susan T hasn't been back online since her last post 21 Mar.2006 but perhaps she'll return after notification of your message or someone else might be able to help you.

Hi Jill & Audrey
I have a Bridget McHUGH married circa 1820s to Thomas MALONE - lived at/near Cootehall (close to Boyle), co Roscommon. Son William MALONE (+ wife & child) arrived Sydney, Australia 1851. Bridget was dead by 1851, probably even before 1849.
I've not been able to find anything more regarding Bridget - Any possibility of a link to those already listed? Any other leads? Thanks
