I don't where you have looked but there are plenty of Earles for the period you are looking for in the IGI http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp
There is also the Bishops Transcripts http://www.rootschat.com/links/076m/
The BTs are not indexed but can be extremely useful.
Heworth was part of the parish of Jarrow until 1834. There is a William Earle b 1788 c 1897 on the IGI and it shows his father as Thomas. The batch numbers reveal 7 births for Earles with the father Thomas the earliest birth being for an Elizabeth c 1773. Searching for the marriage of a Thomas Earle 1773 +or- 10 years revealed a marriage to an Elizabeth Wood on the 25th Aug 1770 at Chester-Le Street.
Hope you can make sense of that.
