Anyone live near Moulton/North Cowton?
« on: Saturday 05 March 05 20:44 UTC (UK) »

Cheesy My g grandfather (a farmer)lived at Windlestraw Hall, North Cowton in 1881, according to familysearch.org this property was situated between Moulton railway station inhabited by the station master and booking clerk & the Manor House inhabited by a farmer.

Does anyone from this area know whether Windlestraw hall still exists, either as a farm still (Both the Hall & House farmed about 100 acres in 1881) a private dwelling or have 1 or both since been demolished.

If so i would love more details & any pictures if poss.

Thanks for reading,  Sharren Cool

Royal mail address search has Windlestraw House  North Cowton Northallerton  DL7 0HL so somethings there.

http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ has Windlestraw Hall   in the location you specify and aerial photo shows something there.
