Hi again Ken
I've been checking up on the censuses and deaths but I don't see her after the marriage entry. Do you know where they went after Beaver Mine?

Hello Gadget. I have no idea where they went. What I do have is this
Elizabeth Jane Wilson born 1853 Gooseye, Keighley, Yorkshire, England. the daughter of Aaron and Sarah Wilson. 1861 census she is shown as living with the family at Darley Abbey, Derby, England 1871 census she is shown as living with the family at Priest's Row, Wells, Somerset, England.
After the 1871 census I lose her, I can not find a death or marriage, so I am assuming she might well have emigrated to Canada, the reason for this is that, in 1883 her sister Agnes arrived in Rat Portage with her husband William Hawley. Another sister, Gertrude Wilson, arrived circa 1888 and in 1890 married a William Howard in rat Portage. In 1891 another sister Thirza Wilson arrived in Rat Portage she married James Lang circa 1892/1893. Agnes died Rat Portage 1894. Gertrude died 1939 Kenora and Thirza died 1952 in Kenora.
Elizabeth Jane Wilson is proving to be an enigma and as I can not find her in the UK, it is possible at some stage she might well have joined the other sisters.
Regards Ken

Hi Ken
Was it just the sisters who emigrated?
I see on the 1871 ( RG10/2447/37/3) that she had brothers John and Aaron. Also, did her parents die in UK?
Wilson's not the easiest surname to chase up - as I know only too well

This looks as if it might well be them:
Marriage - Frontenac 9 March 1881
William Harrison Woodman PofB - Wisconsin Age 25
to Elizabeth Michea PofB Wolfe Is Age 19
Added - also the birth of George Albert Woodman 1 Aug 1883, Fronenac (as on 1901 census)
Father - W H Woodman Mother - Elizabeth Michel or Michae
So not Ken's Elizabeth

Reply for Gadget Yes! both her parents died in the UK Sarah Dec 1908 at Upper Basildon, Berkshire and Aaron died 14th August 1910 both aged 86.. Elizabeth Jane's brothers John born 1855 died at Bathford 1904 and Aaron died 1937 at Dartford, Kent.
I am not sure if Elizabeth Jane came to Canada but as I can not trace her here, then, it is worth investigating the Canadian angle, interesting point that three of her sisters came to Canada but themen stayed in UK

Just wondering if the couple you've been chasing went to US, Ken, as they seem to disappear after they marry
I'll see if I can find anything on the US censuses.

Also have a look at this - England 1901:
RG13/3105/35/21 William Hall Wodmas and Elizabeth Jane Woodmas
Did they come back - if so, they're not yours either

This might be a red herring but the following link mentions a William Hall Woodmass (b. 1860) marrying E. Wilson. The rest of the Woodmass family seems to settle in Australia. There is an entry for Elizabeth Jane Woodmass on the 1913 Australian Electoral Role living End St. West End Queensland, Oxley Brisbane South. Occupation bootfitter but she is residing with Robert, a tailor.
